Scratching an itch.

The open beta for Phantasy Star Online 2 has kicked off today on the Xbox One, with Windows 10 still listed as “coming soon.” So if you’re on your PC, you’ll have to just watch with a certain degree of jealousy as the game rolls out its first scratch tickets, which are… lockboxes. They’re lockboxes, but with a different name. They cost a bit of microtransaction currency to buy in, they reward you various cosmetic bits and bobs, they’re lockboxes.

On the bright side, there are technically two scratch tickets, with one of them bought via FUN points. FUN points can be earned by free means like sending a Kudos, daily logins, and generally being friendly and helpful to be around. The full rundown of rewards in both are available on the site, though, so if you’re enthusiastic about getting your first crack at the various treasures contained within random boxes of stuff, now is your moment.
