Terraria has reached the Journey’s End now

All things go, all things go.

Farewell, Terraria, your journey is over. Although to some extent, the journey never changed. The game’s final major update launched on Saturday, but Journey’s End might seem an odd name when the game’s nine-year history has always been one of crafting your own journey… yet it makes sense when you realize that the game’s last update adds Journey Mode, wildly altering the gameplay in a way that ultimately allows players to research everything, duplicate blocks, and even alter the weather itself.

This would be big enough if it were the only addition, but it’s not. Players can also try out the difficult Master Mode or the simple joys of the Golf mode. There’s the new Block Swap option to easily move from one set of placed blocks to another in one movement. Player emotes! New mini-biomes! New interactions with the world! New interfaces for making characters! And it also launches official support for the popular fan-made modding tool tModLoader as part of the core game! It’s a whole lot of changes to make the game even more capable of adapting in the future; now that it’s finally here, the major updates are over, but the journey keeps going onward.
