Last spring, when the pandemic was ramping up here in the US and states were closing down everything in a panic, MMO studios around the world responded by throwing open their virtual doors and offering respite. One of them was Standing Stone Games, which made a huge chunk of content in Lord of the Rings Online and Dungeons and Dragons Online freely accessible. It proved so successful for attracting players that the company extended the promotion, and then this summer it handed out coupon codes that would unlock said content for free permanently. Peeeeeerrrrrrmanently.
There’s a catch, though: The coupons expire at the end of August, meaning you have just a few more days to actually take care of it and secure your free stuff.
For LOTRO, the code is LOTROFREEQUESTS, and it unlocks 23 quest and region packs. You can also pick up seven more expansion quest packs and instance clusters for a handful of points in the cash-shop, which is worth it if you know you need to level up through the middle of the levelbands from Moria to Rohan.
For DDO, the code is DDOfreequests; it unlocks 46 quest packs, with a couple more on sale for 99 DDO points.
You do need to download the clients and apply the codes in the cash shops inside the games, not just the website or launchers, so give yourself enough time to actually get the games set up. The very last day is August 31st, so please grab it while you can. All SSG has to do is keep those servers up!
