The popular single-player/multiplayer RPG Genshin Impact will be expanding outside of what’s currently available according to a miHoYo spokesperson who talked with IGN Japan. The developers plan on adding more characters, character-specific missions, side quests, and a third city, all of which are currently in development. The mechanics of the game, however, don’t appear due for any changes or additions.

According to the spokesperson, what launched is only “a portion of the game” and the developers consider Genshin to be a live service title. “One could say that the real work has only just begun,” the spokesperson is quoted as saying.

In addition to expansion of the game’s world, there are also plans to have the title release on additional platforms. miHoYo has already confirmed that work on a Nintendo Switch release is ongoing, and the spokesperson stated that the game will also release on next-gen consoles, which will not just be direct ports but will have “future visual improvements.” However, next-gen here appears to mean PlayStation 5 specifically, as the spokesperson explained, “We currently don’t have any plans for an Xbox version of the game.”
