Hey nonny nonny.

A new season begins for New World begins today, with just two hours of downtime expected from 8:00 a.m. EDT to 10:00 a.m. EDT (i.e., ongoing as you’re reading this). As promised, the season, dubbed Blood of the Sands, will involve players palling around with the eponymous group as they seek to find the eggs of the Devourer. Presumably they’re not looking for the eggs in the hopes of making the most awe-inspiring frittata of all time, but you can never be sure with these sorts of mysterious groups. Everything is on the table, in other words.

Speaking of everything being on the table, players can also look forward to transmog being added sometime in the middle of the season and tokens for the same available on the season pass. There are new trials, PvP reward track updates, and even the ability to summon a sandworm to eat stuff you want eaten. What more could you ask for? Other than the frittata we alluded to beforehand. That is not contained in the seasonal overview. Maybe next season.

Update
Trailer’s out now!

This latest season introduces cross-world Outpost Rush, a new Elite Trial and Seasonal Trial, and The Devourer Heartrune Ability, with the much-requested Transmog feature coming in a mid-season update. Plus, there’s a new Season Journey and Activity Card, mysterious changes to the world map, and much more!

In season 2 of New World, an ancient group called the Blood of the Sands, and their leader Malek, have emerged from the shadows to seek help in finding the eggs of the massive creature known as the Devourer. Players will join the Silver Crows and Rima the Bard to uncover the secrets of the order and their history with the creature they call Shah Neshen. Players will enter the Arena of Shah Neshen the Devourer and defeat the massive sandwurm for elite rewards in a challenging new PvE game mode for 20 max-level players.

Players can also expect a new Transmog feature, which will come to New World during a mid-Season 2 update. Players will use consumable Transmog tokens to capture the appearance of any gear collected in the world and transform it into a usable skin.

Additionally, Season 2 will bring a mysterious change to the world map. First Light has fallen to the might of Artemis and her Angry Earth horde – the Settlement, Fort, and Trading Post in First Light are now closed and a wall of thorns has erupted along the border, barring all access into the territory until further notice … stay tuned for more!

Players will have access to the Blood of the Sands Season Pass, which features rewards such as Transmog tokens and new chests, as well as new cosmetics like the Dry-Blood Armor Set, and emotes, including the Worm Dance. There are two reward tracks — free and premium — each with 100 tiers of unlockable rewards.
