Wayfinder previews the optimization and performance upgrades coming in its February patch

Wayfinder is shining another light on its upcoming patch: In its Discord last night, Airship Syndicate told players that the next patch will include its efforts toward optimizing the early access looter shooter – a bit boring, perhaps, but necessary.

“As we showcased in our Q1 Roadmap, this patch will primarily focus on optimizations rather than content,” the studio explains. “We remain committed to securing the foundation of the game, and we’ve heard players loud and clear: you want better performance, fewer disconnects, and a more stable experience. The team’s big hope with this patch is that we’ve made a significant leap forward in terms of the client’s overall responsiveness and stability.”

Specifically, the team is working on shading precompilation to reduce stutter, optimizing hub areas like Skylight to reduce asset density, overhauling its illumination processing, adding quality modes for PlayStation 5, improving asset loading for slower machines, and tweaking inventory tracking.

“Our next patch preview will focus on some of the exciting UI and gameplay changes you can expect from Patch 0.2.4, coming in early February,” the team promises.
