The news digest video series from Sea of Thieves is back with its first episode for this year, and in it fans are getting a look at what’s happening for the upcoming community weekend event and some overall gameplay updates planned for the future.

The video begins by announcing the community weekend’s return between February 24th and 26th, which will offer up a new flag and new emote, the return of the picture wall for crew photo ops, boosts for all earnings, and extra loot through the Pop-Up Plunder event’s return. There will also be Twitch Drops for everyone during the weekend.

The next major portion brings back production director Drew Stevens to talk about updates coming in February, headlined by a move to a new framework that will allow for DirectX 12 support, which should see a general improvement to performance especially on PC. Other features planned for February include increased treasure quantity and value for raid voyages, reworks for a couple of Pirate Legend voyages, resource fixes, a host of targeted faction updates, and the promise of further game stability and hit registration improvements.
