When I first started working on Old Massively, Runes of Magic was still a new MMORPG, and popular enough to merit its own weekly column, so it shouldn’t surprise anyone that the game is turning 15 years old today. Gameforge and Runewaker have announced a hefty patch for the occasion, including a new dungeon for endgamers.
“The focus is clearly on the seven unique bosses that await in the revamped version of the Mystic Altar,” Gameforge says. “[T]he Runes of Magic team has adapted the structure of the dungeon so that even experienced players will have to try out new approaches. A specially positioned NPC next to the existing Peak Hunt NPC serves as a portal to these timeless instances.”
“The new dungeons are designed to appeal to returning players and offer exciting challenges as well as the opportunity to collect new equipment. The full accessory set can be used to further develop characters and prepare them for future challenges. In the new Timeless Dungeons, players can expect a well-thought-out reward system that fits seamlessly into the existing equipment setup of Runes of Magic. Players have the opportunity to collect a completely new equipment set over several instances. The items are dropped directly in the instance but can also be acquired via Peak Fragments. Peak Fragments will be introduced via a new daily quest.”
Heck yeah, there’s even a trailer. Happy birthday, Runes of Magic!
