Before it came to a close this year, I did some Guild Wars 2 Super Adventure Box with my kid, and I swung by the vendors to try on some of the new-to-me skins as one does. I thought the new (new to me? I forget when it was added) focus was particularly cool and almost bought it with my baubles… until I remembered I pretty much never use foci. They have some of the best skins in the game, but the playstyles they’re attached to just aren’t for me.
Thinking back, I realize there are so many MMO weapons like this. It’s not that no games have them; it’s that they’re often built such that they’re underutilized in the games that do remember to include them. Lots of games have spears and daggers, for example, but they’re often set aside for specific playstyles.
