If you want to play Final Fantasy XI on your PlayStation 2 right now… you can’t. The game has been only supported on the PC for ages now, even though it was originally developed for the console. But with the game’s October version update, you’re still getting a new option for playing with a controller, as new button options are available with the shoulder buttons. Yes, everything can still be remapped; the important thing is that if you insist on playing old-school, the game has not abandoned you.
The update also brings new Ambuscade fights along with another round of the Vana’bout event. This particular one is meant to make it a bit easier for players to advance and reach the endgame content, so if you’ve been struggling to catch up it’s worth keeping your eyes open for this one. So there’s reason to keep your eyes peeled for this version update for newer players, as well.
