As World of Warcraft is throwing a 20th anniversary rager to end all ragers this week, it’s totally not confusing at all for Blizzard to also be talking about the 30th anniversary. However, this isn’t for the MMO itself but for the Warcraft franchise, which dates back to 1994 this year.
The studio encouraged fans to gather around the ol’ Victrola radio — or a Twitch or YouTube stream — early month to hear about the future steps for the franchise: “Join us November 13th at 10:00 am PST for a special presentation celebrating 30 years of Warcraft and a look ahead at what’s next.”
As the studio isn’t throwing a BlizzCon this year, this presentation may be a partial substitute platform for the announcements that Blizzard typically likes to reveal around this time.
Blizzard did name-drop some of its main (and obscure) titles: “It’s a big year for the Warcraft universe and whether you’re a Hearthstone fan, you’ve joined the chaos in Warcraft Rumble, ventured into the world of Azeroth for the first time in Warcraft: Orcs and Humans, or you’re a World of Warcraft player, there’s something for everyone in our Warcraft 30th Anniversary Direct stream.”
Sit down, Heroes of the Storm players. Blizzard doesn’t love you. You knew that.
