Eurogamer reports today that UK watchdog group Advertising Standards Authority is investigating No Man’s Sky following “several” complaints over the game’s advertising practices.
Readers will recall that following the launch of Hello Games’ much-hyped sandbox, gamers raged over the apparent lack of multiplayer in the game, in spite of pre-launch insinuations that it would be a game feature, but that apparent misdirection isn’t even listed among the many other accusations.
One Redditor who claims he complained to the ASA has posted what he says is part of the response he received from the ASA, which summarizes the complaints and claims that the ASA has contacted Hello Games and Valve to address the primary issues; these include misleading advertising, video, and screenshots relating to UI design, ship formations, animal AI, large-scale space combat, structures, water flow, load times, aiming, graphics quality, ship AI, creature size, and “references to [a] lack of loading screens, trade convoys between stars, [and] factions vying over territory.”
