The Elder Scrolls Online’s buy-to-play transition is finally here — and in fact started up a day earlier than expected. Along with the business model shift, the team has instituted a new patch to fix up some annoying issues, opened up the game’s new cash shop. Players also have the option to stay subscribed as a premium member under the ESO Plus program.
Patch 2.0.1 brings the Crown Store to players, ESO’s cash shop that contains mounts, pets, costumes, consumables, and various bundles. The team posted a showcase on the website with examples of the store’s offerings. Previous subscribers will log in to find that they have a sizable stash of crowns to spend on these goodies.
Of course, the most important change to the game is that aquatic fauna preparation is no longer dissonant: “Cleaning a fish now sounds less obnoxious.”
