Defiance revisits its holidays for a large-scale anniversary celebration

In the universe of Defiance, Armistice Day represents Votan and human soldiers coming together to end a misguided war that neither side really wanted to fight. In the real world, it’s the game’s celebration for its two-year anniversary on April 2nd. Trion Worlds isn’t confining this event to a single day, though; instead, it’s a massive recall of many other holiday events running from March 30th until April 20th.

Special arkfalls will be triggered in several regions, allowing players to pick up rewards from past holiday events. There are also new weapons available from Defiant Few faction contracts, with last year’s weapons available from legacy supply crates. It’s nearly a month of anniversary celebration, so if there’s a weapon you wanted but just missed grabbing before, now’s the time to redouble your efforts.

@mysecretid @Wasteland_Courier okay you guys have inspired me to give it another chance. I’ve had no real consistent scifi TV fix (aside from Walking Dead and the French version of The Returned) since the new BSG finished. I just recently started The 4400 on Netflix and its exceeding my expectations. Tried Falling Skies and while it has very high quality production, I haven’t felt compelled to continue on through the second season. And the Ascension miniseries had a lot of potential, but it didn’t blow me away. Here’s to hoping they bring back The X-Files!

I’m with Courier. It gets better as it goes along. I’ve ended up a fan.
The series has also been renewed for a third season, coming later this year.
Evidently, it’s one of SyFy’s higher-rated shows, for whatever that’s worth to this discussion.

Now, if only the game could get some sort of renewal going. I miss the fun I used to have.

Cheers,

Lctwo I personally thought that it steadily got better. I was a fan of the concept and thought that it finally came together in the second season, but, yeah, the first season was a bit rocky. That’s the way it goes for a lot of sci-fi shows, though.

Did anyone besides me think that the SyFY show was just absolutely awful? I made it three episodes and couldn’t take it anymore

A Dad Supreme The game actually has a good population. Not sure about PS3, but PC and Xbox are doing just fine these days. During the holiday events, it wasn’t uncommon to get a good 50+ players riding in for the “major arkfalls.” (i.e. – the spontaneous overworld boss fights) The new dev team managed to squash one of the bigger network stability bugs last year, which has done wonders for its retention rate. It was almost unplayable just before it went F2P and a few months after, so it’s in the process of bouncing back.

Sorenthaz hardy83 Undahill The vehicle-mounted weapons thing, specifically with regards to the Raptor, was some weird and hasty inclusion on the part of the last dev team (which was shut down during Trion’s restructuring a little over a year back). The new devs were able to explain that adding that in would’ve caused some major problems as far as balancing the game. They were putting a renewed emphasis on player score during events, and having people ride up in Raptors sporting turrets would’ve been a problem. Among other reasons.

The console thing, yeah, I do agree there. They’re going to have to lose the Xbox and PS3 eventually in favor of the new consoles, but it sounds like they’re still making some decent revenue there. At least for the time being.

RagnarTheDrunk They’re on the verge of launching a new update that’ll make Alcatraz the game’s main social hub. From what I can tell, all of the vendors will be put in that area and it’ll be non-combat to a point.

squidgod2000 Sorenthaz hardy83 Undahill  Yeah, but they usually try to do bigger stuff around then.  So they’ll try to generate buzz in some way.

Plus the whole “play the game watch the show” thing probably won’t be let go of fully. Pretty sure they had little ads pop up for it during the show too, if I remember right.

How’d they get all the people still playing the game to log in at the same time for that screenshot?
