SkySaga explains the tech behind its good looks

SkySaga’s developers don’t want you to automatically lump their title in with the rest of the voxel crowd based on it looks. A new dev post explains that SkySaga boasts intricate visual technology despite its blocky appearance.

“In SkySaga the lighting conditions change drastically between different biome types, in addition to the dynamic day-night cycle and the large number of dynamic lights supported,” the team said. “For those reasons we needed materials that would respond well irrespective of the lighting environment.”

SkySaga recently sent out a round of alpha invites that are good from now until April 23rd. Unlike some alphas these days, this one doesn’t cost to get in or come with strings attached. The team is encouraging players to test by tempting them with “daily challenges” redeemable for a unique in-game banner.

Voxel doesn’t mean bad game engine.   The lighting effects and biome quality in LANDMARK is really pretty spectacular.

I tried this in last week’s beta with my grandson. He is my testing buddy. he liked it right away although his attention span didn’t hold for the crafting. For me, the crafting was one of the better parts of the game. I enjoyed playing it. If you get a test invite, you can play every Thursday after your test period. I do plan to play again and will keep my eye on the game until it gets out of beta.

OMG totally had forgotten about this game. I had signed up for it, can play the alpha, but just hadn’t yet.  I know what I’m trying out this weekend!

PizzaDoh I often got(sometimes still get) turned around when that happens.  I love that it now takes me to a static page with outbound links.

Massively, I’ve long complained that when we click a games name in your articles, it just shows us other articles and not the website that we’d expect to go to.

I just want to off-topic thank you here for making it so on this site, it has a little info box about the game and developer as well  as links to the sites and then all the articles you’ve written below it.
Crazy convenient.
