SkySaga explains the tech behind its good looks

SkySaga’s developers don’t want you to automatically lump their title in with the rest of the voxel crowd based on it looks. A new dev post explains that SkySaga boasts intricate visual technology despite its blocky appearance.

“In SkySaga the lighting conditions change drastically between different biome types, in addition to the dynamic day-night cycle and the large number of dynamic lights supported,” the team said. “For those reasons we needed materials that would respond well irrespective of the lighting environment.”

SkySaga recently sent out a round of alpha invites that are good from now until April 23rd. Unlike some alphas these days, this one doesn’t cost to get in or come with strings attached. The team is encouraging players to test by tempting them with “daily challenges” redeemable for a unique in-game banner.
