Yesterday IllFonic confirmed that it had laid off six staff members from its Denver-based studio that is working on both Revival and the FPS module for Star Citizen. Today Cloud Imperium has provided more clarity on the issue via a statement to GamesIndustry.biz.
In a nutshell, IllFonic was brought on board to assist in the early days of the module’s development due to the studio’s previous experience with the underlying CryEngine. Now that CIG has grown and is handling much of Star Marine’s development in its Frankfurt and Manchester offices, IllFonic’s services are no longer required.
