Bungie loses lawsuit to ex-Destiny composer

Ex-Destiny composer Martin O’Donnell has prevailed in a lengthy legal battle with developer Bungie. The company must restore O’Donnell’s stock holdings and pay what it owes its former composer under its profit-sharing plan.

O’Donnell, who in addition to writing Destiny’s music, also worked on sound effects, voiceovers, and Bungie’s long-running Halo franchise, was fired by the studio in 2014 over disagreements regarding creative freedoms including the use of a suite called Music of the Spheres that Activision removed from Destiny’s trailer.

Good for him, also nice to see all the rumours of Destinys story being stripped and a barebones frankensteins monster being cobbled together at the last minute are legit.

“10 year plan”, what a waste.

Gawd, any way to jump on Bungie.  At least this isn’t SC or SWTOR.

The best game trailer ever made would not have been the same without the music of Martin O’Donnell.

His music was some of the best in gaming, to let him go was shocking.

I hope 343 hires him, that’s a damn shame.

Im quite sure Activision will fire a dozen people to recover the loss.

Working for the Post Office is more rewarding than a career in video games.
