SWTOR is changing conquests in its Fallen Empire expansion

38

When the Knights of the Fallen Empire expansion hits Star Wars: The Old Republic next month, conquests will look a bit different. BioWare community manager Eric Musco says that “not as many players as we would hope are completing their personal targets.”

As such, the devs are tweaking the target points for rewards in some conquests. All conquests which now require 35,000 points will require 20,000 points when the expansion launches. BioWare is also nerfing the ability for guilds to use a repeatable crafting objective to gain conquest points.

Couldn’t care less about the conquest mechanics but what I do want is some choices on guild starships.  Good lord my guild of 10 people does not need a cruiser that should have a crew of 4000 or whatever.  Can we please have an option to get a frigate or destroyer for less money?

Looks like it’s time for them to abandon and never speak again of yet another in their long line of lost and forgotten mini-games.

They keep doing this where they work for six months on some new subsystem, announce it with great fanfare, proceed to never do another damn thing with it, and then wonder why nobody bothers playing it. Then they figure, “Well, there’s no sense putting more effort into it if nobody is going to play it,” without ever stopping to consider that maybe the reason nobody is playing it is because you’re not putting any effort into fixing, expanding, and realizing the full potential of the thing.

If they’re going to spend time and money building this stuff, it’s just stupid and inept to squander all that investment by neglecting it and never realizing any return on it. In the meantime, they continue to not spend time and money on making things people actually want, like extending the eight unique class storylines. With all the resources they have blown on defunct minigames, they could have made a couple of real, actual expansions by now.

(Content people and systems people are not fungible, of course, but Bioware could have made a strategic choice to fire the people who keep wasting time building half-assed mini-games that never amount to anything, and spent their money instead to hire more content people to make more unique storyline content for the base game.)

“not as many players as we would hope are completing their personal targets.”

Give the players a reason to do them and they will get done. It’s just another half-baked system put in place that has barely been touched and does not offer a real reason to do it, much like many new systems that are implemented and never touched or fully realized on many other games.

I have a had time finding a guild that doesn’t want to do the whole conquest thing and I always end up leaving. I just want the social atmosphere and to help the little guy. Not this taking all my free time stuff just for your guild name on fake planet.

I am in a small guild and we are alway in the top 10 on our server, you don’t need a big guild to place in the top 10 guys. just a bit of team work :)

I’m still going to ignore the system. There is no real value from doing anything conquest related if you’re in a small guild.

I came back to SWTOR last month and have only a vague idea what conquests even are and, as a solo player, very little interest in doing them. Hopefully, the changes are good for those people who do partake.

To be honest, I still don’t see the point of them or the applicability of their activity to my gameplay.

Jadefox Needed a lot more then that. The system has proven to be unfriendly to small guilds.
