Watch the new Champions Online supervillain trailer

23

Champions Online is all a-tizzy over its new supervillain onslaught mode, which allows players to hop into the plus-sized feet of powerful baddies for short stints on the dark side. Players have the option of taking on the role of iconic villains such as Gravitar and Grond, fighting to earn gear and new powers.

Cryptic recently released a new trailer for the supervillain onslaught that dangles the prospect of going temporarily bad in front of the community. You can get pumped up for playing the villain by watching the trailer after the jump!

SpacePirateMira I love your creativity and the work you put into this.  I think many WISH Cryptic/PWE put this much work into promoting their game.

SpacePirateMira mrnastybutler Oooh that would be wonderful of they brought over the foundry so we could write scenarios and storylines.

JayBezzOfficial Well, just to clear up confusion: yes, it is fan made. I made the trailer with a tad of help from other people who run our YouTube channel as well as a few people in my super group in CO.

mrnastybutler There is the worry that it will become like city of villains which was highly under utilized compared to the heroes side. It is like EVERYONE had a hero, but only sometimes played villains on the side, and even then not the majority did. Plus, it is hard to be a villain. Villainy comes in the form of plotting and scheming – not just blowing stuff up. That is henchmen work. It is really hard to make yourself feel like an actual villain in a video game that doesn’t have a linear narrative.

The best form of being a bad guy in Champions would be if they finally brought over the foundry and let you make your own missions. Then you’d be able to be a “villain” by creating scenarios that heroes have to defeat.

A day later and you guys still can’t give the right person credit for their work or admit you screwed up. Unbelievable. Mira deserves credit for the work she did especially from a site claiming to report news. If you can’t get simple things like this right for CO, how can I trust anything said about the games I don’t know about? This is inexcusably unprofessional. People are supporting you because they believe in the site and you can’t even spend 5 whole minutes checking things out? This isn’t even the first time such stupidity has happened.

Meh, “prospect of going temporarily bad” “for short stints on the dark side”.  Not looking to be a villain for a set period of time, I’d want my character to be able to actually be a villain, like permanently haha.

If they want people to come back they’re going to have to drop the sub or add actual content.  It’s ridiculous that they’re still trying to extort a sub for a game they’ve put in maintenance mode.  I actually hate F2P but this is like them trying to have their cake , eat it too, and charge you $15 to watch them eat it.

Tamanous Hmm…. I might have just replied to you on another site, but yeah that is too bad about the DDoS attacks happening the lats 2 days. It is a an attack on Neverwinter but seems to be affecting all Perfect World games.

Log and play!

Get booted by the constant DDoD attacks!

Good luck with the patch. They are going to need it.

Bannex19 At least in the case of Marvel Heroes, it’s not about funds but because they’re not allowed to. Gaz has repeatedly said that Marvel doesn’t want people playing as pure villains – that’s why the default costumes are always the “good” versions even if the “bad” one is more iconic (Doom, Magneto) and it’s why they’re not planning to ever release playable versions of characters like Carnage. The closest they can get is Team-Ups.
