Lord of the Rings Online hints at a Shelob raid, schedules Update 19 for this fall

Following the revelation of Lord of the Rings Online’s two-and-a-half-year plan, the second part of a fansite interview turned its attention to the subject of raiding. Turbine noted that July’s Throne of the Dread Terror raid was well-received, saying, “We are happy, delighted, to see how the raiding community in LOTRO has come back to life.”

The team is currently planning a new raid every 12 to 14 months, with the next one sporting “dark webbed enemies.” It’s a good bet that this is in reference to the giant spider Shelob, especially as players are on the cusp of entering Mordor.

In reference to older raids and dungeons, the studio said that it probably won’t spend a lot of effort to revamp them: “The other question is, for LOTRO in particular (because we have an ongoing epic storyline that drives the players forward), how much reward will we get by going back and revamping the old content. That is a big question going forward that we have to decide upon. Right now because we are coming in to the really meaty parts of the story I am loathed to budget time to go back and revisit the old content. ”

Lord of the Rings Online’s Update 19 is planned for this fall.
