The Secret World welcomes new community manager, should talk about relaunch plans soon

It's less of a secret now.

Ever since finding out in late February that Funcom has plans to relaunch The Secret World with a new business model and redesigned combat, players have been desperate for more information on how this all will shake out. Fortunately, we’re about to end a month of speculation, as the studio will reportedly be opening up on the subject soon.

According to a player post on the forums, Funcom said on a livestream that it will be talking about the “big update” by the end of March — so sometime in the next week — but is keeping silent until then. That might prove welcome news for fans that have started to feel stressed out about the lack of communication on this relaunch so far.

In the meantime, The Secret World welcomed on board new community manager Nicole “Spynosaur” Vayo last week. “I was a GM for customer support for the last two-and-a-half years up until yesterday,” she said, “I’m extremely excited and happy to be here and being involved more with you guys through the forums, social media, and the like. Especially with upcoming changes and updates for The Secret World. It’s a new adventure for me and I look forward to getting to know you all through it! ”

I know that’s hardly possible, but shooter-like experience could be great. Something like ‘The Division’ or ‘Destiny’. Not that engine allows it, but still.

TSW is definitely one my favorite MMOS that I’m not playing. I haven’t been keeping up with the game like I used to, but I’m really interesting in what’s going on. I’m pretty sure that I’m going to regret not getting that lifetime sub.

Still regretting it.

Looking forward to hearing about the revamp.
Since my other Lifetime subscription game just went through one (DCUO), it’s going to be interesting to have to figure out how to play in TSW again as well.
I guess it’s a good thing I have a “lifetime” to figure it all out once it drops!

I can’t wait to hear the details! TSW is a great game, it really deserves a second chance at reaching a wider audience.

But this reminds me I need to finish that *shudder* Tokyo carpark mission some day…

Love that mission. It’s genuinely scary. I always end it in a cold sweat.

Yeah, I don’t scare easy, but that mission really gets under my skin!

This had better be a serious rework like what FF did with reborn or it will be useless to most people. I don’t know what Funcom has in the works but they really need to have a hit game that the masses will like. So far they got nothing. TSW could be that game if they really try. And just making it f2p won’t do much for it either. I will not be hyped about this until we see what they do.

I’m optimistic, but trying to keep my expectations in check. Especially regarding new content, since that’s very likely not coming with this.

Still hopeful though, can’t wait to hear what they have planned.

I also really did not mind the combat. yes I used the same three buttons during combat over and over, but if you look at games like Rift where I have around 40 skills on my skillbar, I still only use about 3 buttons, okay maybe a couple buffs too. So I don’t really mind the limited number of skills to use. When WoW redesigned and concentrated the skills, the only issue is they got rid of the 3 skills I used, and so I had to find 3 new ones and how they worked. So, I am not really sure what people think is wrong with combat, and how that really differs from other games and their 3 button combat.

What is it that makes people today afraid of having a lot of skills? I will never understand why some people want limited skills to use in mmo’s. Give me rows of different skills i can use. Makes me feel like i earned all those lvls.

Because the reality of combat is that you aren’t going to have an entire army’s worth of personal kit to do stuff. You have your weapon and maybe a couple grenades.

When I bought the game I only made through a few issues. I’d love to play through all of the issues I own. Hopefully the things that bored me to tears about the game will be addressed.
