Dungeons and Dragons Online reveals its expansion’s head vampire

Every MMO expansion needs a great headlining villain, a character who inspires fear, dread, and most importantly of all, makes you so infuriated that you have no compunction against unloading a Costco-sized can of pain when the time comes. For Dungeons and Dragons Online: Mists of Ravenloft, it looks as though this character will be the vampire aristocrat Count Strahd Von Zarovich, Lord of Barovia.

DDO Players got an exclusive look at what Strahd will look like when the expansion arrives this fall. He appears in his more cultured state (although we’re betting that’s not wine he’s swilling around) as well as his vamped-out form. Fun fact: This character was the focal point of a 1994 CRPG called Ravenloft: Strahd’s Possession, which you can still play today.

Strahd isn’t the only big feature of the expansion; check out the new characters you can create and mercenaries you can hire when it drops!

Update: As MOP reader GumpsGang points out, SSG has also worked out a fix for the reincarnation issue afflicting players.

“Reincarnation: Improvements have been made to the reincarnation system to prevent loss of items while undergoing the process! Changes have been made to the way a player’s inventory and bank are moved to the True Reincarnation cache during reincarnation. The process occurs upon first login after a reincarnation. The process is now more resilient against disconnects that occur at this time. If there is a problem and it detects that items were lost, a message will be displayed in the chat window at login. Customer service now has additional tools to identify and restore items lost in this process.”
