Skull and Bones delayed, The Division 2 to arrive in the next year

With a strong fiscal year under its belt, Ubisoft’s future looks bright indeed. The studio posted its earnings report this week, stating that it made $2.04 billion in revenue and $164.7 million in net income — both a sizable increase from the year previous.

The earnings call gave us some indication as to the release windows of two of its future online games. The Division 2 is expected to come out before April 2019, which means that at the worst, we have slightly less than a year wait to go. The studio revealed that the first Division title racked up over 20 million players to date.

Players will have to wait longer than expected for Skull and Bones, however. Ubisoft announced that it will delay the launch of the multiplayer pirate game to April 2019 at the earliest “to offer players an even more engaging experience.”

Skull and Bones is probably taking a long hard look at itself and Sea of Thieves. Skull and Bones from what I know, is not a very feature heavy title. It pretty much sounded lobby based to me. When it first announced little to nothing was known about Sea of Thieves. So Skull and Bones essentially had no competition for its little gimmick. Well now it does and now it might not be able to stand on its own without some rethinking.

Better delay Division 2 than turn out another Destiny 2.

It’s Ubisoft, Division 2 will be delayed at least twice. Which I’m fine with, I’d rather they have a better product out of the gate than rush out an underwhelming product they need to build up, again. Happy to wait patiently for both games : )

So, does that mean they were originally planning on doing a Sea of Thieves, content-wise, originally?? Be lame, if so.

Its possible they realize that fans are still holding out for Sea of Thieves to “Redeem” itself with the updates, which would keep them from jumping ship to a new game. Waiting long enough for Sea Of Thieves to disappoint more, would mean a bunch of buccaneers who would be very open to buying a new pirate game.

Given the strides they made in The Division from launch to now and the current state of the game, I’m looking forward to TD2. It will be interesting to see what mistakes they’ve learned not to repeat.

One thing is for sure, they didn’t just throw the game into maintenance mode after early bad reviews, so it shows they now stand by their products.

Im excited about this too.

I enjoyed the first month of the original Division, and then it fell flat due to limited content and stifled multiplayer interaction. Over time however, they have really beefed things up and improved upon these things.

I HOPE they dont pull a “bungie” and revert all the improvements they bade to division 1, when they release Division 2. My wish is that Division 2 is everything that the first game currently is, with an improved graphics engine, new story, new multiplayer modes an activities, and hopefully, a more multiplayer feeling world (hated how in the first game, you dont see other players out on the street)

Oh… I hope they ditch the whole dark zone crap. Id rather have instanced pvp zones, even if it didnt make sense how operators were fighting each other.

Or MAYBE in Division 2, you get to choose if you want to be part of the existing “good” faction, or be part of “the last man battalion”. Then PvP would make sense.
