Some players are bursting at the seams to take MapleStory to the next level — and the next dimension. Fortunately, the wait for them is almost over, as Nexon just announced that MapleStory 2 will be launching on October 10th. Founders with access to the head start period can get in even sooner on September 24th.
[AL:MS2]The announcement took place at yesterday’s MapleStory 2 Premiere Event. Nexon said that the Rune Blade class will be added for release but the Soul Binder would come later in December. Current testers can go ahead and make a battle royale character to reserve their names for release. Don’t everyone fight over “Mo” now, do you hear?
MapleStory 2 recently wrapped up its Closed Beta 2 test and assembled an impressive infographic to show off the results of that period. Check it out below!
The most important question is:
Will it finally have proper mouse and keyboard controls?
No more beta testing until release?
I saw a lot of people on twitter who were angry that founders get to play 10 days earlier than free players. To me that seems like an industry standard and something I’d totally expect. Am I just jaded and that really is an unreasonably long amount of time?
I’m fairly sure it’s because they’re using that as their final testing period while calling it a Founder Head Start. They need that extra time so that they can work on any issues that pop up before they let everybody else in.
Is 10 days a lot? I don’t know, not really to me. I guess that’s because I normally don’t play games right at release anyway because I like to skip release problems. I will stop on to create a character or two but then go away and come back later once things have smoothed over a bit.
I’d be very happy for this arrangement, if I’m planning to be a first-day player of either of the described groups. People should not forget literally all recent MMO launches have trouble with server capacity.
October 1st is the head-start for founders. September 24th is just pre-registrations.
