As the saying goes, “One does not simply walk into Mordor. One repeatedly walks in and out of Mordor on a near-endless series of roundabout quests and lore excursions.” And so it begins once more, as Lord of the Rings Online starts testing its latest Mordor expansion, Minas Morgul.

The update is out on the Bullroarer test server right now, but perhaps of more interest to the larger LOTRO community are the patch notes on the forum. In addition to all of the expected expansion features, the update also contains a balance pass for Rune-keepers, a general DPS buff to legendary items, and a cap on Embers, Motes of Enchantment, and Figments of Splendour.

Minas Morgul takes you on an expedition deep into the Morgul Vale in search of answers to a mystery that spans three thousand years,” the devs said. “The words of the shade of Isildur will unearth secrets and visions of the Second Age that have remained untold until now, revealing playable landscape and new adventures from a crucial time in Middle-earth’s history.”

Players can pre-order the expansion for $40 to $130. Minas Morgul is tentatively arriving on October 29th.
