And this time, Blizzard will be only the publisher

While many fans are perhaps looking to Diablo IV to save the franchise (aka rehash Diablo II), there are some rumors stirring that Blizzard will… well… straight-up remake Diablo II, at least if anonymous sources are correct.

French games site Actugaming has recently learned that Blizzard is working on Diablo II Resurrected. This remaster is being developed by Vicarious Visions, the same team behind the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy remaster, so at least it’s in competent remaster hands unlike Blizzard’s last attempt at video game necromancy.

Reportedly, the remastered Diablo II will be among the announcements made at the inaugural Summer Game Fest and should be released at some point near the end of the year. We should mention that this same reporter for Actugaming also confirmed the release of Diablo IV and Overwatch 2 before their official announcements, though as always, one should take rumors with a grain of salt.
