RuneScape details changes to the chat profanity filter as Jagex marks a fifth year of revenue growth

Platitudes about supporting Black lives are fine, but action is far more vital, and RuneScape is hoping to make its game friendlier for marginalized players with some improvements to its chat filter, hard-filtering a variety of hateful words regardless of whether the profanity filter option is on or off. “We know the filter isn’t perfect, and we know it won’t solve toxicity within our community, but it’s a good place to start,” remarks the post. This new filtering will arrive at some point soon.

In other Jagex news, the company recently announced a revenue increase of 19.4% year-on-year in 2019 as well as operating profits of just over £48.9million, representing an annual increase of 4.5%. This marks the fifth successive year of growth for the company, which could mean that the pending lawsuit by China Minsheng Trust Co. Ltd. about who exactly owns the company just got that bit more interesting.
