Fallout 76’s next season begins on December 15 as fans fight in-character wars and raise money for charity

The Game Awards have roared on by, leaving in its wake moments of cringe, reason for people to debate the award winners, and (perhaps more importantly) a bunch of trailers. One such trailer comes from Fallout 76, which is primarily a rundown of its past year of updates along with some self-back patting, but the video also closed out with word that its next season, The Scribe of Avalon, will be landing on Tuesday, December 15th, along with a new Scoreboard.

Meanwhile, the more dedicated fans of the multiplayer title have been keeping themselves busy. One of the larger events involves a number of roleplay groups waging an ongoing in-character war among themselves. The entire series of events makes for an interesting read, but it also puts in to sharp contrast how bad PvP in FO76 can be. “In certain instances, that you pretty much have to cut out half of the gameplay functionality in order to do anything,” says roleplay community leader Jesse Jewell. “If you use VATS with certain weapon types, it breaks your damage gap and you can one hit somebody no matter what their build is. It’s not fun if you can press a button to auto aim and insta-kill somebody from across the map, right?”

In more out-of-character news, players of the game have joined forces for a benefit for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospitals called Fallout for Hope. The streaming event will run between December 14th and December 20th and will showcase over 150 different Fallout streamers and content creators covering the full IP’s fandom. The event is already off to a roaring start, raising over $3,000 on its Tiltify page before anything even began, but it never hurts to donate to a good cause.
