It’s been a while since this one came across our desk, so allow us a moment to refresh everyone’s memory: Blade and Soul: Revolution, the mobile MMO being released by Netmarble that was first revealed in November 2017 and promised to stay true to the PC game, has been slowly rolling out details over the past few years including a Korean release date in 2018, some pre-registration for the SEA version last March, and a 90-minute peek at gameplay from the Japanese version last April.

This leads us to today’s announcement from Netmarble, which has officially confirmed that Blade and Soul: Revolution will be making a global release sometime this year as a free-to-play title on iOS and Android.

The mobile title promises once more to stay true to the original game while also offering large-scale content like faction battles and an active combat system, all powered by Unreal Engine 4 visuals.

The game has opened up a new official website along with another teaser trailer, while the video’s blurb announces that pre-registration will be available starting on Thursday, January 28th. The official site also plans to showcase first looks at the story, artwork, visuals, and key features of the game. For now, there’s the aforementioned teaser with Jinsoyun looking all menacing and stuff below.

If my memory serves me correct though, I wasn’t aware that this would be *mobile only thing…nor was I aware that Netmarble would be involved with this instead of NC. So a lot definitely happened since the memory was last refreshed of this. /bleh

Note: To my understanding B&S II was supposed to be the mobile project; while Revolutions was to be the PC project.

So, the Blade and Soul story is all over the place. Between S, M, II, BSB, BDSM, and so on… okay, only the first 3 were real at some point from NCSoft, plus the Netmarble one cause… why not another!?

They seem to have been intentionally vague about all of them, likely because they’re all mobile-only (until they are badly ported to Steam).

What a mess.

So no one is really sure what’s going on?

All I can attest to if that if this all true, this is radically different to what I understood to what was going on. And one where Netmarble was not involved whatsoever.

I would trust your recollection more than mine since you more actively follow Blade and Soul.

I do know that NCSoft has been working on multiple B&S mobile titles in-house (at least one that was canceled) as well as licensing out the IP to other parties. I couldn’t tell you which one.

It’s just sad that NONE of them are actual, full-on, PC (or console) games.

Revolutions was supposed to be for PC, as that was planned to attach it to our B&S accounts eventually to my understanding. (Kinda like how WoW Retail and Classic works currently.) And no other exclusive platform or 3rd party involvement was mentioned in that process the last I heard…

…so forgive me, while I have my WTF? moment here. /bleh
