Genshin Impact Update 1.4 celebrates spring in Mondstadt, adds new quests and a new character on March 17


The next update for multiplayer RPG Genshin Impact is on the horizon, and just like the last major update, this one comes with a festival. Specifically, a springtime festival in Mondstadt known as the Windblume Festival, where players can play minigames, take on challenges, enjoy a multi-ending quest with some of the game’s characters, and get rewards like a Windblume Festival Commemorative Balloon, a Windsong Lyre, and the Windblume Ode four-star weapon.

It’s not only about the festival in this update, as there will also be a new story quest that promises more details about the Abyss Order and the fate of the Traveler’s long-lost sibling, as well as a face-to-face with the formidable Abyss Herald, who has secrets to share about the world’s first Ruin Guard at Stormterror’s Lair.

Finally, Update 1.4 will add another character to shoot for in the form of Rosaria, a polearm-using Cryo character that boasts high mobility and a powerful Elemental Burst attack; introduce the ability for players to hold up to five Condensed Resin at once; and add the option to lower their World Level in singleplayer and co-op mode.

Most of the content updates are open to Adventure Rank 20 or above characters that have completed the “Song of the Dragon and Freedom” questline. You can get a look at the gallery of images below as well as a trailer for the update, which is set to land on Wednesday, March 17th.

This game still remains one of if not my favourite game of 2020 even if I’ve fallen off the hours of gaming of late. I did consider putting it on my phone as well to run dailies but I’m just a few hundred off that bounty glider cosmetic and ….

Myself, I wanted a Mondstadt focus patch, so I want to get back into things with 1.4 compared to the long anticipated (by testers/fans) 1.3 that I went ‘cool, lanterns, time for a break’ for.

Later this year may be Chasm subzone and Inazuma region.


option to lower their World Level

This is a very welcome change. I’ve been playing co op with a friend on a lower world level and grinding items is so much faster. Higher world level is supposed to increase drop rates, but the increase is so small that it just doesn’t seem worth the additional time it takes to kill enemies.


I’m pretty sure I’ve seen that kind of “balance” in games before.

Devs: “This is the Elite version of the missions! Enemies have a 5% increased chance to drop rare materials.”

Players: “But they start at over six times the base HP, and have twice the damage resistance. So in addition to the slightly increased chance of death for good players, they take way, way longer to defeat. It’s more time efficient to just run the base mission four times.”
