Updates for the co-op multiplayer shooter Aliens: Fireteam Elite have been a bit sporadic (the last content update was released in April), which might be cause for concern among the remaining fans the title has. Developer Cold Iron Studios has now come forth with a bit of news on that front, both committing to the shooter’s quality-of-life while also heralding work on its next project.
The QoL updates have first landed in a recent patch that irons out host errors, disconnects, queue issues, crossplay, and crashes for matchmaking; adds all game modes to quickplay; fixes bugs; and applies multiple improvements to AI teammates. The patch landed for PC PlayStation, and Switch earlier this week, while the Xbox patch has been delayed to tomorrow, October 26th.
This is the first of an unspecified number of QoL patches that are promised to “include many of the community’s most prominent requests,” even as Cold Iron begins “full development” of its next new game, which is very likely the title that Daybreak announced it would be publishing last month
Cold Iron has also taken on a new studio head in the form of Elena Siegman, whose prior body of 20 years of work includes executive producer of Bungie’s Destiny 2: Forsaken expansion. “I’m honored for the opportunity to lead the talented developers at Cold Iron Studios into their brilliant future,” said Siegman. “We believe we’re brewing something special, and cannot wait to show the world what we’re working on.”
