The climate-balancing sandbox MMO that is Eco has introduced what is being called a “massive upgrade” after a year of production: Update 10 has come online this week, which introduces a variety of impactful new facets to the balancing act of the sandbox’s whole deal.
One of the larger portions of Update 10 that was elaborated on before is the ability for players to establish towns, create countries, and join countries together into federations, all of which require management of resources, borders, and other societal interplay mechanics. Another big piece of the puzzle is the addition of boats and coastal construction, which lets players build four different types of boats and finally opens up sea trade.
Update 10 has also made several tweaks to world generation and the tech tree, which make ore propagate in veins and plants generate in localized clusters, adjusts several items, rebalances multiple recipes, and reworks power generation and consumption.
In addition, Eco has added new cultural elements, face tracking support, avatar updates, twitch integration features, and a host of other fixes and tweaks to other aspects of the game. It’s a sizeable patch that fans of the sandbox would do well to look over.
