Happy class balance day, Guild Wars 2 players! Also happy lunar new year! Yes, the January 30th update this afternoon offers both tears and beers. Let’s start with the good news, and that’s the return of the Lunar New Year Festival in Divinity’s Reach.

“During the Year of the Dragon, you can enjoy fireworks displays, participate in games, sample delicious Canthan food, and earn new rewards. This yearly festival is live now and will be available until February 20. This festival is accessible to players of any level. Even if you’re brand new to the game, you can easily take part in our Lunar New Year activities and earn new cosmetic unlocks, utility items, and more! The Wizard’s Vault also has new special objectives directing you toward all sorts of Lunar New Year activities. Earn that astral acclaim and collect your rewards!”

We spy new cheevos, new weapons, a new backpack, new guild statues, and a new mini available as rewards this season.

As for the balance update itself, it looks like unwelcome nerfs for the Mirage, Tempest, Vindicator, Holosmith, Scrapper, Untamed, and Deadeye, among others. It’s not a lot of changes, all told, but it has Reddit howling as always.
