World of Warcraft fans can snag a free Fiery Hearthsteed mount in March when Hearthstone turns 10

Pop quiz, hotshots: How old would you say Hearthstone is? If you said 10, well, you probably cheated because it’s right there in the headline. But you’re also right, I’m shocked to say, because Blizzard’s multiplayer collectible card game is indeed turning a decade old on March 11th.

As readers will recall, Hearthstone has been the subject of a round of layoffs at Blizzard in recent months, along with the sunset of the duels mode, prompting concern about the game’s future, but game director Tyler Bielman is effusive about the team’s plans.

“It all starts soon with birthday giveaways, in-game events, a spicy Core Set update, and the first of three lively card set expansions. Then, just a little further down the line, we’ll be launching Battlegrounds Duos,” he says. “Alongside our regular Standard and Battlegrounds updates, the team is working on fascinating Twist formats and Arena updates for even more fun all year long!”

Fans of World of Warcraft will want to pay close attention to the crossover events there too – there’s a free mount in it for you.

“The party has spilled out of our Tavern and all of Azeroth is joining the celebration. Starting on March 11, log into Hearthstone to get a new Fiery Hearthsteed World of Warcraft mount for free! Also, from March 11 to March 18, you can seek out special Hearthstone matches in capital cities. Stick around long enough and you’ll face a special encounter where you can defeat iconic minions to add to your deck and earn other fun new Hearthstone-themed rewards! More details coming closer to the event.”
