A week ago during Microsoft’s Xbox podcast, we learned that multiple Xbox titles would be un-exclusived and set loose on the PS5 and/or Nintendo Switch – among them, multiplayer pirate game Sea of Thieves. Now have a date for the PS5 release: April 30th. Rare says it’ll mark the first time in its 40-year history that it’ll have launched a game on a PlayStation platform.
“Ready to meet plenty more pirates on the seas? New crews will soon arrive seeking fortune and adventure as Sea of Thieves opens up to PlayStation®5 owners!” Rare says. “Part of a broader Xbox initiative in which we’re delighted to be involved, this will bring countless fresh faces to our pirate playground and, thanks to cross play implementation, allow everyone on the seas to keep on sailing together now and well into the future. April 30th is the launch date to mark in your calendars, with the upcoming Season 12 being PS5® owners’ first full Season on the seas, and the game is available to wishlist from February 22nd on that platform. […] More information on launch bundles, editions and activities will be arriving soon, as will further details on all the treats that players can expect from Season 12.”
