Helldivers 2 has made good on its promise to address armored Terminid enemy spawns with a patch that released yesterday, which should make dealing with the big chonky bugs at higher difficulties a bit more balanced.
In summary, Charger and Bile Titan spawns have been reduced for difficulties 7 and up, while spawn spikes for these enemies have also been reduced. Additionally, the health on Charger heads has also been reduced, meaning a headshot with the right weapons should take down these beasts instantly. To compensate, the higher difficulty missions will see other enemy types appear in greater numbers.
Speaking of enemy types, the update also sneakily added in flying Terminids to the game known as Shriekers. These newly introduced insects, which Arrowhead CEO Johan Pilestedt cheekily claims don’t exist, aren’t found in every mission, but their speed and aerial movement have added a fresh wrinkle to fighting.
Meanwhile, the Helldivers 2 community has elected to stir up another bit of in-fighting, as players are splitting their attention between following the current community goal and trying to take back Malevelon Creek.
For those who don’t know, this automaton-filled map was handily lost by players despite intense fighting on the planet, which spawned myriad references to the fight as “Robot Vietnam.” With the planet now open to assault again, players are trying to organize an effort to win back the Creek, though there are many players trying to dissuade that effort so that the Terminid systems that are part of the major order can get reinforcements and in turn grant everyone a sweet stack of medals.
