Nightingale expounds on its roadmap and why the offline mode is a medium-term project

Nightingale has spent the better part of the week focused on clean-up after a bug ate player homes last weekend, but now it’s releasing its first developer roadmap video since hitting early access. Inflexion Games Aaryn Flynn takes the start of the video to admit that there are things the studio isn’t happy with yet, starting with network disconnect issues and exploits. The team also outlines its process for fixes by way of explaining why it can’t patch every day.

As for the roadmap itself, Inflexion chiefly reiterates the graphical map released last week. “In the coming weeks our primary focus is on refining the current game experience by removing unintended friction points,” Community Manager Steph Herdman says – that means things like balance and bugs, as well as large-impact QOL tweaks like storage perks. In the medium term, meaning the next few months or so, the team will focus on NPC AI, weapon types, recruits, building limits, progression, and climbing.

“The offline mode falls into the medium-term category because it involves a lot of work,” Community Coordinator Maribel Diaz says. “For example, the game workload is currently split between the servers and your PC. So we need to see how machines will handle doing the work of both. We’re still very early on this work and are unable to commit to timelines, but know that we are working this.”

And of course, longer-term, Inflexion is tackling new biomes, new points of interest, and new creatures.
