The Daily Grind: What are the scariest words in the MMORPG genre?

The other day I was chatting up a friendly MMO dev who – in the context of the then-still-fresh Elder Scrolls Online rollback – was telling me about how he resolved a situation in his MMO that could’ve turned into a nasty rollback, but the team scrambled to avoid that at all costs, even manually restoring ownables to avoid a complete server rollback. The stigma for rollbacks is just excessively high (as it should be).

“‘Rollback’ is definitely of the scariest words in MMOs,” I opined, and I’m pretty sure it’s true. I think it’s much worse than “merge” – but of course better than “sunset.”

What would you say are the scariest words in the MMORPG genre?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
