The summer vacation idea isn’t only striking MMORPGs; it’s also inspiring the digital card game Hearthstone, which just announced its upcoming Perils in Paradise expansion scheduled for July 23rd centered around Marin the Fox opening a vacation resort.
“That old scamp Marin has put his questing days behind him and is setting off on a new adventure: resort management! Tucked away in the beautiful Spiral Isles, The Marin is Azeroth’s newest vacation getaway, and it has everything: exciting entertainment, tourist traps, and even some of Marin’s old pirate buddies.”
The new expansion will introduce 145 additional cards that bring new mechanics, chief of which being the Tourist keyword that lets classes put another class’ Perils in Paradise cards into their deck, though only one Tourist card can be used. There will also be drink cards that bring quick-hitting benefits a total of three times (or three refills in other words) as well as six new location cards that can even be reopened early if certain criteria are met.
The expansion set also promises to add new weapon cards and new minion cards, one of which being a free legendary Marin the Manager minion card that’s earned by simply logging in. More card reveals are promised to the card library soon, but there’s a preview video below that summarizes some of what Perils in Paradise is offering in a few weeks’ time.
In the meantime, Hearthstone’s latest patch brings Genn and Baku back to the free core card set, reintroduces Buddies to Battlegrounds mode, and kicks off a new Fire Festival event.
