If you thought that Diablo IV would be content to coast on the traditions of the past for its class design, think again, for the upcoming expansion promises a brand-new concept for the franchise with the Spiritborn.
Blizzard fully revealed this fall’s new Vessel of Hatred class in a gameplay blog post, saying that the Spiritborn “calls upon the unique strengths of Jaguar, Gorilla, Eagle, and Centipede Spirit Guardians.” The versatile class uses combo attacks, agile moves, and spirit-augmented melee attacks to carve through foes.
The class has a new type of skill tag called Incarnate that changes the character’s traits when different animal Guardians are selected. For example, picking the jaguar allows for long leaps across the battlefield, the centipede poisons foes, and the gorilla clobbers as only a gorilla can.
