Diablo IV’s Season of the Infernal Hordes features new tweakable wave-based battle scenarios

Get ready, Diablo IV fans, because we’re just a week away from Season of the Infernal Hordes.

“Season of the Infernal Hordes begins on August 6 at 10 a.m. PT,” Blizzard’s new dev blog on the season reads. “Discover another chapter of what Lilith’s return to Sanctuary has wrought on the land. Create unlikely alliances and discover what imminent threat the Realm of Hatred poses to Sanctuary. On both Seasonal and Eternal Realms, beat back Hell’s legions in the Infernal Hordes, a wave-based feature that pits you against seemingly endless monsters.”

In fact, Infernal Hordes is probably the most interesting addition to the season, hence the name; players will be able to tweak their one-minute waves with Infernal Offerings that affect both how nasty the baddies are and how much loot you score for winning.

The dev blog goes into more detail on new enemies, uniques, legendaries, and the questlines that guide players through the season, as well as adjustments to Helltide, uniques balancing, experience gain, enchanting, and crowd control.

Blizzard is planning a dev stream on Thursday at 2 p.m., so stay tuned for more.
