WRUP: Eliot died on the way to bring you the serious version of this column edition

No, not really

This was entirely unsafe even in the planning stages.

Tragic news, everyone. While preparing to unveil the very serious version of What Are You Playing this weekend, Eliot died while using his personal deathtrap to travel to work. He had announced his retirement prior to this and he was planning on a full retirement on the day after he came in to take care of this last WRUP edition and announce the new, serious version moving forward. Unfortunately, just before he could finish signing his new life insurance policy on his personal deathtrap which he took because it was his last day before retirement and it’s just so much faster, he was exploded, set on fire, smote by the heavens, thrown into a parallel dimension, crushed, and then exploded a second time.

Funeral services will not be held.

As he was the only person who kept the final tally of the serious version of WRUP for moving forward, we were initially unclear on what to do moving forward. Fortunately, he had written a variety of other WRUP entries before he decided he was done with jokes, and he also had a large number of articles written about other things as well, so we’re pretty sure we can just keep running his material for at least a little while before it actually impacts the site’s output at all. It might seem like all of these are written about events that occurred more recently and thus they could not possibly still be archived, but we assure you that they are. Anyway, enjoy your weekend! Don’t think about any of this!

Bonus question: What’s your favorite kind of Girl Scout cookie? (We’re not debating best, you’re sharing your favorite.)

Andrew Ross (@dengarsw): I’m so tired, I may just do some light exercise games with a side of Splatoon 3.

Tagalongs and Samoas are my scout cookie weakness. Keep those kids away from me and my gut when it’s cookie season!

Brianna Royce (@nbrianna.bsky.social, blog): I’ll probably pop into Guild Wars 2 this weekend, and I want to sink a little time into Brighter Shores too. Or Stars Reach if there’s a test in a time frame I can make! We’ll see.

The peanut butter cup ones – they’re called Tagalongs now, but in the long long ago, they were called Hoedowns. Thin Mints are a classic, too, but they’re way easier to get year-round because of white-labeling.

Carlo Lacsina (@UltraMudkipEX, YouTube, Twitch): Honestly, Tetris this weekend for me. Its been a busy November. I just need something that doesn’t involve leveling up, stat numbers, and metagames for a hot minute.

Thin mints are my favorite. Anything minty is my fave.

Chris Neal (@wolfyseyes.bsky.social, blog): I’m kind of floating in this headspace where nothing I’ve got installed is really speaking to me, so as a result I don’t have a genuinely good answer. I’ve got some games I’d like to try and dig in to, but I’m deeply unmotivated. Maybe I’m just sleepy.

Everyone’s gonna prop up Thin Mints for good reason, but a very close second for me will be Samoas. They’re just perfect little desserts, which is good considering how few cookies are in those boxes nowadays. Pretty sure I’m not losing my mind, right? Weren’t these things bigger and more full before??

Eliot Lefebvre (@Eliot_Lefebvre, blog): I’ve been riding hard on Final Fantasy XIV in wake of this week’s patch, and I’ve still got more to do on exactly that, so I will be doing so. I’m also going to be preparing for a trip next week. No, not a work trip, this one is just for me. Just me!

Samoas are easily my favorite of the offerings, but the great thing about Girl Scout cookies is that the only wrong answer is never trying them; there really are no bad options. And if you’ve just never tried them, well, that’s a you problem.

Sam Kash (@samkash@mastodon.social): I’ll be getting some time into Throne and Liberty this weekend. At least to get me through the tutorial finally. I just have not been able to sit at my games for more than 15 minutes recently. It’s kind of tearing me up inside.

Bonus: I think traditionally I’d pick the Samoas as well. Which is funny because I actually don’t really care for coconut flavors. Maybe the toasted part with a crunch gets me. Although my recent favorite is easily the Toast-yays , which is a terrible name by the way. French toast and frosting: perfect.

Tyler Edwards (blog): I’m playing through the new Battle for Greece DLC for Age of Empires II. It’s got a new Persian civ for you, Sam!

Bonus question: We don’t have Girl Scout cookies in Canada. According to Google, Girl Guides of Canada also sells cookies, but I don’t think it’s as much of A Thing as it appears to be down south. Certainly I’ve never seen any.
