The Daily Grind: Are there any good turret classes in modern MMORPGs?

I blame Classic Guild Wars for my love of the turret class. But Bree, you say, Guild Wars never had a turret class – you’re probably thinking of Guild Wars 2’s Engineer. But nope! The Guild Wars Ritualist was basically a turret class. “Spirit spam” is the technical term we used back in those days. Sure, you could play the Rit as a healer or nuker or even a hybrid buffer chucking urns if you wanted, and that flexibility was what I loved. But you could also load your bar with spirits and just create an absolute doom wall of stationary summons to bolster allies and mow down enemies. Late in the game’s life, you could even drag them from spawn to spawn before they poofed. I loved it!

Turrets are apparently still on the outs in GW2, else my Engineer would be doing the same thing. And lots of MMOs have classes with a turret of some sort, but I can’t think of many MMORPGs where you can really play as a full turret class. Can you? Are there any good turret classes in modern MMORPGs?
