It’s been a little while since players of Star Citizen’s alpha have seen a full reset to their earnings, items, and progress. That’s going to change when the alpha 4.0 build goes live, as developer CIG has confirmed another full wipe is coming to the sandbox when it does arrive.
CIG explains that the arrival of the new system of Pyro, multiple economic updates, and additions like missions and in-universe guilds will require a full reset of accumulated items, credits, and reputation respectively in order to get the best test data possible. Followers of the project are likely to not be surprised by this information, but it’s at least likely good to know all the same; all that’s missing is a release date for 4.0, which still isn’t being provided.
Meanwhile, SC is spooling up for tomorrow’s Intergalactic Aerospace Expo, which will once more let players into the game for free and showcase over 150 existing and new ships from the MMO’s various manufacturers. The event page has outlined which ship builders will be showcased on what days of the event, while the official forums provide an FAQ for new arrivals. The event will run from November 22nd through December 5th.
