The WoW Classic Classic anniversary rollout is getting an Oceania server after all

When Blizzard announced World of Warcraft Classic Classic would run with megaservers – PvE in US West, PvP and Hardcore in US East – Aussie and Kiwi players, including our own readers down under, immediately raised panic, knowing their pings were going to make playing the fresh start unpalatable for players in Australia and New Zealand. On the official forums, players piloted a massive 400-post thread cajoling Blizzard to add a local server.

Well, never say that players can’t ever get what they want by begging on the forums – because this effort worked. Blizzard has agreed to an Oceania PvP server, which it has clarified is a PvP server (Blizzard doesn’t think the ping problem is as important on a PvE server, presumably). That means in addition to the PvE, PvP, and hardcore options located in the US and EU, we’re also getting the Maladath PvP realm hosted in Australia.

Do note that all servers open today at 5 p.m. EST, regardless of region.
