Is it really the holiday season without multi-ton machines of war stomping around outside in the snow? MechWarrior Online certainly doesn’t think so, and the multiplayer PvP ‘Mech battler won’t let that grandest of Christmas traditions fall to the wayside, as it has kicked off a month of Winterfest events for players to enjoy.
Several seasonal events involving gigantic walking tanks will engage over the month of December, with a Bane event, Grand Summoner event, and the first part of an Advent event (say that three times fast) going on now. Later in the month, players can look forward to the second half of Advent, a stocking stuffer loot bag event, and bonus events to mark the holidays and New Year’s. Details on those events will come later, though players do have to login as usual to get the full measure of what’s on offer.
As for MWO’s latest patch, that has added two more legendary ‘Mechs in the form of the Naomi Cataphract and Starshot Wolverine, opened up the new battle map of Luthien, and introduced another round of weapon and ‘Mech quirk adjustments.
Finally, good news for MechWarrior 5: Clans owners: Piranha Games has decided to hand out its Trials of War DLC to all players for free. Those who have the multiplayer game will simply have it installed or be able to download it for free depending on platform, while those who purchased the DLC will be receiving refunds. Piranha is also working with Sony to grant the same offer to PlayStation owners.
