Corepunk’s servers return with a small rollback and temporarily lowered player population caps

Just before the holidays, we kept eyes on Corepunk as it wrestled with infrastructure problems that kept the MMO’s servers dark save for some test servers. Now that blood is replacing the zesty eggnog that’s been flowing through our collective vascular system, it’s time to check back in to see where things are, and we can report that the game is back to normal. Kind of.

The game’s test servers were closed down after a couple of days while developer Artificial Core redeployed to a previous stable version last Saturday, December 21st, which also required about five hours’ worth of lost progress as part of a rollback.

On the following Sunday, the devs announced that the main issue causing server crashes was resolved bar “a few technical problems” and thanked players for jumping into the test servers to help out. As of December 25th, the servers were back online, but the studio has had to temporarily reduce the number of players per shard in the interest of improved performance while fixing continues.

With the server problems now mostly addressed, Artificial Core is now turning its attention to Tier 3 artifact changes. The studio explained that after the reopening of the MMO’s stable version, players were able to farm these items a bit too easily, which threatened to upset balance ahead of a PvPvE dungeon’s arrival. Shortly after the announcement, the removal of these artifacts was changed to affect only those that dropped from bosses and not those that were crafted.

Regrettably this update has gone pear-shaped as well: The balance patch went out as scheduled but ended up deleting everyone’s Tier 3 artifacts. The devs have promised to devote their attention to correcting the issue as well as addressing an error code problem that has cropped up.
