Tower of Fantasy promises better customer service, more social features, and even more sci-fi stuff

Tower of Fantasy, despite its name, is a sci-fi multiplayer RPG. But it could always be more sci-fi. It could have space pirates and spaceships and mecha and other planets to visit. Also the game could have better customer support. That’s the very wide synopsis of a post about the game’s optimization and update plans.

First off, Perfect World acknowledges that its takeover of publishing has not exactly gone well, with players running afoul of confusion, incorrect age verification, and sluggish support. The publisher promises that it will refine registration processes, improve payment authorization for multiple currencies, and apply customer service optimizations that include enhancing the localization of server languages and improving response times.

The rest of the post takes a broad strokes look at what updates are planned for TOF in the future, and as alluded to earlier, that’s going to be a significant focus on more sci-fi elements both in terms of setting and gameplay. Players can expect v5.0 to move its narrative to the wider galaxy starting with a place known as the Kailo Sector, which promises space pirates, ships and mecha, planetary infrastructure, and things known as “space cage and origin resonance.” Whatever those may be.

Perfect World’s Hotta Studio further promises to expand on social gameplay aspects, primarily by focusing on making more guild events and opening up a social space for players to hang out together. Unfortunately these features have no release timing, but with the game’s third anniversary approaching, the studio appears to be eager to improve social features.

The post also promises development away from random stats and their related grinds and towards “making progression more seamless and efficient.” Once again there is no timeline for when these adjustments will come – indeed the post seems to suggest this will take a long while – but it once again is a pain point that Hotta and Perfect World seem to want to address.

In the immediate future, the game will have a new character arrive on April 8th. Her name is Carrot. She’s a self-described genius mechanic who wears a ruffly dress.
