Well, this is a... something?

TERA players are no strangers to Big-Ass Monsters, but its next update will have them squaring off against a whole new breed of oversized creatures: Big-Ass Fish. The update, BAF Masters, will introduce a new fishing system in addition to a complete overhaul of the game’s gathering and crafting systems.

[AL:TERA]The highlight of the update, obviously, is the new fishing skill, which level 65 players can pick up by completing a brand-new questline to join the Fishing Association, over the course of which they’ll “learn how to catch, prepare, and cook twelve grades of fish from fisheries around the world.” Aspiring anglers will be able to “purchase and upgrade specialty rods” and “buy, craft, or earn bait and lures” with which they can hook a variety of marine life that can be sold on their own for gold and Metamorphic Emblems or packaged into Fish Crates to earn “even better rewards.”

The gathering and crafting systems will be receiving an overhaul as well. While players’ “existing gathering skills will not change,” skill levels will be ranked from level one to six, “just like the nodes themselves.” In addition, all gathering nodes will “have a chance to produce basic materials needed for crafting, in addition to named gatherables that match the node.”

While the gathering-system changes are relatively minor, the crafting system is receiving a complete overhaul, and players’ “old crafting patterns and skills are now out-of-date.” When the update goes live, crafting skills will be divided into five categories: alchemy, smelting, processing, etching, and cooking. En Masse isn’t quite ready to delve into the specific changes coming to the crafting system, but the devs promise that they’ll be revealing more information about the new crafting system before the update goes live on December 11th.
