The Daily Grind: When was the last time you were super hyped for an MMO expansion?

I have two different modes for getting MMO-expansion-hyped. The first, and more common, is when it’s a big game for the genre, whether or not I play it. I love expansion time: I love the zing in the air, I love the deluge of info and chatter, I love seeing our writers and readers and guildies get pumped up for it, and I love knowing that an MMO is thriving. It’s good for MOP all around when a good MMO is doing well.

But the second mode is more rare, and that’s when it’s for an MMO I actually play, since two of my main games are rogue servers that don’t usually get expansions and my third hasn’t gotten one in years. But now, we’re on the cusp of SWG Legends’ City in the Clouds expansion tomorrow, and I’m finally feeling that personal excitement rather than just the professional kind. And I have missed it!

When was the last time you were super hyped for an MMO expansion?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
